The staff was amazing. Attentive, friendly, helpful. They went out of their way to make our birthday celebration memorable. The room wasn't cleaned one day out of 6, and turn down was missed once as well. In today's world, that is a win. The room is a bit outdated, and was musty at first when you walked in. Not unheard of in that climate. Location was really nice. The private beach across the street was key to changing the pace/location. Downtown was 10 min cab ride. Food was good, no complaints. We spent a couple of meals at the Dreams across the street (meh) and in downtown (very good). Do the rooms need updating? Yes. Is it across the street from beach (vs being on one)? Yes. The staff make up for any shortcomings.
Simply put, it's horrible. Don't go there. Rude, slow service and terrible food can't begin to describe how truly bad this resort is. I've been to over 25 all inclusives including three Zoetry's and this is no where near a Zoetry. I just have to laugh when I read the five star reviews. Shame on Hyatt for trying to pass this off as a five star. One star was generous !
If you have come from the Zoetry's in Mexico -there is no comparison. What is missing here is the supervision. We saw lots of managers, none of which actually spoke to any guests to enquire as to our stay. It's like they avoided us at all costs. The staff need training. NATALIE and LATOYA by the pool are the best. So is the young man chef. No one wears name tags for some reason so I can't tell you who is who. The other staff are always on their phone or chatting with eachother. We saw a couple wait 10 minutes for a spoon after their soup was delivered. DREAMS - dont bother. Food and Beverage are not the same and its chaos everywhere. Casino is a petri dish yuck. Go get a massage and facial there, the prices at Zoetry are ridiculous. Especially for us Canadians who have to convert. Food is repetitive yes. Again - the managers that are there, including the miserable supervisor in the short black skirt and red golf shirt with the braces and glasses - please be friendly and acknowledge and speak to your guests. And source some herbal teas! And some Lysol wipes in the gym. Lot of work needed here to be up to par as the other Zoetry's. But overall a good trip. Numbers were way down - 20 people when we were there, all likely due to the reviews here. They are giving out last minute deals for two weeks - we met two couples who paid less for 2 weeks than I paid for one.…
My wife and I went there the week before Christmas. The resort is very quaint and very quiet. Probably around 60 rooms and only 2 restaurants. The main restaurant, Bloom was right sized for the resort. Everything is made to order, so don't expect a buffet style 10 minute dinner. The steaks were done perfectly (and surprisingly good quality). As expected for the region, the seafood was very fresh and very good. The Oxtail soup was my favourite appetizer! Breakfast at the same restaurant was always made to order and very fresh. The only complaint would be the lack of variety (both breakfast and dinner). The menu was very much the same every day. The staff there were amazing. They accommodated special requests very well and if they didn't have what you were looking for, Oscar always found a way to get it! He was everywhere at the resort and didn't stop trying to make everyone's stay better. His wine tasting session was a big surprise. He was extremely knowledgeable and taught me some things I didn't know that I didn't know. Sharianne at the restaurant always put a smile on my face! Tiko and the staff in the kitchen did not disappoint. As I mentioned, the food was always fresh and cooked exactly as requested. They even remembered special requests from previous days and added them to your meal when appropriate! The poolside restaurant was also very good. A standout was the coconut shrimp, but the jerk chicken was different but very tasty The poolside bar was great. Good quality TVs so we could watch the world cup final! A note here, someone mentioned that it would be great if they had some munchies (chips, nachos, nuts, etc) and ten minutes later Oscar (again) came back with a few huge servings of loaded nachos for the bar (this is nowhere on the menus, so I don't know how he got it so fast). Latoya was the bartender for most of the week. Her personality was matched by her drink quality. She was great!! The resort property was very well maintained, quite modern and very tropical, palms, flowering trees and bushes everywhere! The rooms were the largest resort rooms I've ever seen. They were modern, immaculate and quite comfortable. (there is a 65" TV in each room:-)). I personally found the bed too soft, but I can't complain there. I like a very hard bed. A couple of negatives now. The pool skimmers didn't seem to work very well. There were always a lot of tree droppings and dead bugs around the edges. The beach was a golf cart ride away across the street at Dreams, which is much livelier and much larger, with many more restaurants that we also had access to. The Dreams beach was small and crowded, but Zoetry has it's own private beach to the left. This will be very nice once it's completed. For now, it has a small bar with BBQ lunch. Very quiet but a nice break from the pool. The checkin/checkout process was very easy and quick. Every resort should make it this easy! All in all, I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice quiet resort where you can relax and get to know the staff and get to be known by the staff. We would happily come back!…
This trip was a disappointment. We have stayed in several hotels in this chain previously, and we were looking forward to at least the same quality as those. Unfortunately, this Zoetry did not meet expectations. Although the staff was friendly and accommodating, the facilities and food left much to be desired. First, the pool cushions were disgusting. Stained and faded. Clearly very old. Second, the menu never changed. We paid extra for a private dinner. Generally these dinners are held on a pavilion at the beach. Instead we dined in the wine cellar, which was a brightly lit room in a "fishbowl" where anyone in the lobby could look down and see us. The menu was the same as the menu in the restaurant. We ate at Dreams several times. The quality of the food and the variety was much better, especially considering that Dreams is considered one of the "cheaper hotels" in the chain. The restaurant at Zoetry looked like a neighborhood coffee shop. Cheap plastic placemats, even at dinner. All in all, this hotel needs to up their game because right now as they are a discredit to the Zoetry brand. If this was the first AMR (Hyatt) Hotel I had stayed at, I would NEVER choose to go to another one. …
