A Vestige of the Past
out de 2019
Unfortunately, this historic site is not often open to tourists. We wandered in through an open gate to discover the once elegant property is now the venue for late night concerts and raves. Don't detour off of I-80 thinking you'll get to stroll through history. Unless things change......right now you need to be young and half naked and eager to get wild until the sunrise to enjoy this venue.

Disappointed!
ago de 2018 • Casais
I saw Jack White here on Thursday night last week. I was so excited to finally get to go to a concert here, but I was SEVERELY let down. Let me tell you why...

A) - Saltair caters to partying. Most people there just wanted to smoke and drink with their friends. The employees only care about the bar area and that’s it. Most people there didn’t care about actually seeing Jack and enjoying his performance. It was hard for me and my boyfriend to enjoy Jack’s performance, but we did our best.

B) - Trash and old confetti are scattered throughout. Upstairs on the side of the stage is a weird triangle box thing connected to the wall below the railing. It was filled with trash and old confetti was basically melted to it. Also, there was old confetti melted to the house lights. Fire hazard right there!

C) - Gross bathrooms. Clogged toilets or toilets that didn’t flush.

D) - No AC or working fans anywhere! It was a zillion degrees outside, and since the building is old there is no insulation to keep cool air in. The walls were exuding heat. I was sweating so hard the moment I entered.

E) - You have to pay FIVE DOLLARS CASH to park in their lot! Like nobody carries cash with them anymore guys! So inconvenient. I was worried about the car the whole time since we had to park outside the lot by the fence.

Those five reasons were the reasons why I was let down. I was trying to not let everything bug me, but I just couldn’t shake it. I do feel like the concert should have been held outside...cooler air and more room.

Things that would make this place better: AC or working fans placed throughout, bathroom remodel, and a platform of some sort (for people who stand in the back to stand on so they can see better). I was in the back, and could only see from Jack’s sternum and up.

I loved seeing Jack White live! I never thought I would in my entire life, better yet his entire life. I would love to see Jack again someday...just not here.

I tried to stay positive about this place and not let it ruin my experience...but everything was just so bad! Never returning here unless they make some major changes.

Cool view of Lake, but...

The lake itself is much more of an attraction than the run down building and crappy gift shop. And if you don't get your car out of the gate right at 6:00, they lock you in and make you sit there until 7 so you'll have to go into the gift shop where they will do absolutely nothing to be helpful, even though they have a key to open the gate and let you out. The excuse is that they can't leave the otherwise empty shop unattended to let you out. Weird, seeing how they leave the shop unattended to go and lock the gate! Better pictures and history online and much better scenery out at Antelope Island. Don't waste your time at Saltair. If you do, make sure you park outside the gate and don't bother with the dumpy gift shop.

Interesting bit of history
mai de 2018 • Família
I have been in and around the Salt Lake Valley many times in my life but had never visited the site of Saltair. I knew somewhat of the history and had not really seen the Great Salt Lake up close, so we decided to go while visiting family in the area.

First, we took a walk out to the lake. At this time of year, it was about a quarter mile from the pavilion and not exactly the best smelling place! :-) What was funny is that we saw a very dead fish, and I didn't think there were any fish in the GSL! But it was interesting and we were able to say we had been there.

The pavilion was a little disappointing -- after seeing the pictures of the old versions. It was an airplane hanger that they relocated to the area. I suppose it would be a good venue for concerts and dances, though definitely nothing fancy!

The gift shop was kind of fun -- we enjoyed the old pictures and they had a nice variety of items for sale.

Though not the most exciting vacation destination but I am glad they have at least done something to preserve what is a very historic location. Maybe add a place to eat? Or develop picnic areas?

Concert Venue on the Great Salt Lake
ago de 2017
The Saltair is the 3rd building so named on the Great Salt Lake. The first and second being a beach side resort. This is a concert venue but does have a gift shop and parking. An easy place to stop and take pictures or walk the beach at the Great Salt Lake just east of the Great Salt Lake state park.

Summer fun

Used to actually swim in great salt lake years ago. Wanted to get cooled off one hot day. Went out to Saltair. No more beach. Have to walk a mile away to get in lake. Used to be concessions stand to get snacks. Too many bugs. Need to clean it up out there, used to be fun.

An interesting diversion
mai de 2017
We found this by accident while visiting the Great Salt Lake. We found its history very interesting, particularly as I come from Saltaire in England. Would love to have seen it in its heyday but even now the building still retains some of its original glamour.

A Pleasant Surprise
jun de 2017
This was a pleasant surprise. The store manager told us the history of the place. Very interesting history. The Great Salt Lake used to come up underneath the Saltair Pavillion.

Great place for a concert!

I took my boys to see Zedd here last year and it was great! The place was packed and it was a great event and concert venue! Bathrooms were clean and security was adequate. I would definitely see another concert here!

Easy Access to the Great Salt Lake
jun de 2016 • Família
The Saltair Pavilion is not special in and of itself. It's a venue for concerts, and inside looks like a giant mosh pit. However, it is situated right off of I-80 where the small gift shop functions as a rest stop and the area around the pavilion gives tourists a place to take pictures of and with the salt lake. Keep in mind that the area has been in drought for a few years so the lake is very low. But if you have a little time, you can walk over the dry part of the lake bed and go touch the water. Otherwise, you will only need 15 minutes or so to find a trinket in the gift shop and read about the former structures at this location that were the original Saltair resorts.
