Godvana then merged with other pieces and formed Pangea, which split into pieces, among which were oceans. The sedimentation in these oceans buried the deposits of Godvana with the effect of changing their structure due to high pressure and temperature. Since the sinking of the African plate under the Eurasian, the rocks were compressed and transformed and eventually raised. These rocks are the oldest stones of the Geopark of the area, forming a tectonic window in the past.

A very beautiful place with a magnificent landscape that is worth visiting. The mountains were snowy and when we arrived the sun and the lake looked like a mirror that created a very beautiful landscape. At the entrance before the church there are local products retailers. But there was no coffee shop in the wider area. There's a road you can cross around the lake. However access to the area, especially the last 2-3 km of the route there was dirt road that was relatively difficult but paved with several points to have mud and water.
It's worth a visit.

Fantastic lake, landscape and view! Serene, clean and just magical. A must see is the church at the one end of the lake to light a candle and say a prayer. There were also lots of merchants leading up to the church selling goods honey, tea, grains, pasta, etc.......there is a small cantina there from what I saw but no toilets anywhere. Many were camping setting up picnics.........A must see if you are in this area or if you want a weekend away that's more relaxed and in nature.

The view is unique There are a lot of things to do like horse rides I do walk there there will be different merchants so you can taste various dishes, It is very worth taking and eating together and picnic with your friends or family

For 4 years, as informed by the A.T.Gouras there are 2 gangs that open cars and steal!
We today visited the lake and stopped to go down the 1st dirt path, we sat with the clock 5 minutes, and they came before us broke the glass and took what we had left in!
Around there was no one or a car followed us, what they obviously do is that, some parachute in the forest and warn the rest to come and what exactly to steal!
Great attention!!!
We were informed by the residents and people who have benches in the lake that it happens constantly and in front of their eyes and they do not get news!!

In early July on a business day it was very quiet. Few cyclists, no hikers, pedal boat rental and the horse tours not open.
The monastery is being renovated, but you can still get in and be invited to climb up to taste the rose jam and enjoy a view. We were very sure what the one Resiende said about thefts I could not observe, but perhaps there was too little going on for that.

The lake area is beautiful, there are activities to do (lake bike and horse riding), you can visit the church of St. Fanouriou on the lake but it is really worth going to the monastery of St. Georgios with a unique view.
The only negative is the road which is in a bad condition with potholes in many places (from Trikala Corinthia) and with bends.

Very beautiful and stunning nature. Leads to an ancient monastery where you can buy handmade rosepetal jam made by the monks.
They also have a amazing view and a souvenir shop. Excellent trip

Thieves roaming around braking into cars to steal. Travellers need to be extra careful because the local police cannot do much.

Well it’s not recommended. It has very muddy waters and because it’s artificial lake, it has trees inside etc.
