Excellent theatre experience here seeing the amazing play about Nina Simone. The Unicorn Theatre is small enough to provide an intimate experience and every seat is a good one. Good acoustics. We felt safe with COVID protocols in place. Nice seating area outside where you can enjoy drinks, snacks or purchase food.

We first went to Berkshire Theatre Group last year to see Godspell. We were so impressed with both the production and how everything was managed we knew we had to return this year. We double booked with them to see The Importance of Being Earnest on a Friday and then Norm Lewis on a Saturday.
First the play: the Unicorn is a really intimate, cute theater. You really can’t have a bad seat. The play itself was fantastic. We knew we wanted to see Harriet Harris and she did not disappoint! Every line delivered to perfection. The entire cast was excellent and we really enjoyed ourselves. I also must mention how amazing the staff are. I had reached out ahead of the show with some specific things I needed help with and I was greeted like a VIP and escorted right to a seating arrangement that worked best for me. I believe it was Corey Cavenaugh who was so unbelievably helpful the entire evening (if I got the name wrong I am very sorry) even loaning us an umbrella to get to our car. I had asked if there was any opportunity to “stage door” and meet Harriet Harris. I was told not at this time due to current guidelines which I completely understood. To my very pleasant surprise today I received a playbill signed by Harriet Harris along with a kind note from the general manager, Corey. The thoughtfulness of this really blew me away. We had already determined that we are going to make the Berkshire Theatre Group productions an annual trip. This definitely solidified that plan!
Now for Norm Lewis. The voice, the personality, such an amazing show. He is so entertaining. He is so friendly and funny that you almost forget that in a moment he is going to floor you with his gorgeous voice that has such range and depth it is almost seems magical. And for the record he would be much better in The Music Man than Hugh Jackman! Everything was so well organized at this event as well. Every staff you come into contact with is happy to answer any questions and help in any way possible.
Overall we truly enjoyed ourselves at both events and a lot of that is because of the staff at both locations. We can’t wait to return next year!

Last night I saw Norm Lewis perform in the outdoor venue by the Colonial Theater. If I were just rating the performance, it would be five stars all the way. The reason for the lack of the fifth star is that I am asked to rate the entire experience and there was an obvious lack of planning. Many outdoor theaters in the Berkshires have popped up this year for a very good reason - the pandemic. It is well known that being in a group outdoors is safer than being indoors and that was the reason for my choice. So imagine my surprise when I got there and found that in order to get into the outdoor theater, I had to go stand in line at the Colonial Theater INDOORS, which brought me in close contact with the others on the line and negated the purpose of choosing the outdoor venue in the first place. Fortunately I am vaccinated AND had an N-95 with me just in case I ever found myself in a difficult situation. Never would I have imagined the situation would be entrance to an outdoor theater. This needs to be corrected but until it is, come prepared if you are concerned about safety and the virus.

Life-long Broadway patron & theatre mom here. We were looking forward to a good performance by committed actors, but were rewarded with a GREAT performance by extremely enthusiastic and skillful players. We enjoyed every second of “The Importance of being Earnest” last week. While the only actor we initially recognized was Harriet Harris, it was collectively a very strong ensemble and we reluctantly resisted going back for a second night of it. Mitchell Winter as John/Jack/Earnest - a stand-out with amazing timing & delivery. The Unicorn Theatre is an intimate setting that complemented the piece. Stage and costumes were perfect - minimal, but elegant setting and an attention to detail in the costumes that outpaced our expectations. We eagerly anticipate a return to BTG at some point in the near future.

Talented cast, some excellent singers, simple staging, comfortable seats. Part of the stage was not visible from the side, but the action took place farther forward. This was one of several satisfying performances I've seen at this theater. First rate troupe.

The Berkshire Theater Group has three different stages on which they present their productions. Theater can be much grander and more elaborate, but it never gets any better. “Working: A Musical” is absolutely top notch, if you can get tickets. The sign out front says “Sold Out,” but their were a number of empty seats at the production we attended. So, you might get lucky, just showing up for a performance, even if it is “sold out.”

Last year we enjoyed the production we attended. This year we have booked two of their plays. This is one of the many special arts venues that make the Berkshires such a heavenly Mecca for the arts.

The show was professionally produced with very talented performers. Enjoyed my experience but felt that $79.00 for a an afternoon performance ticket was quite high.

Though the playwright won a Pulitzer prize for this show it was so warped in its thought pattern that it was difficult to sit through.
The play is just too long with two intermissions. The first act was doable but by the end of the second act it became difficult to stay alert.
There have been only two times in our lives that we have had to depart a play . By the time we got to the on site parking lot, it was easy to see that we were not the alone that had difficulty following this performance. The lot was already 25 %or more emptied.
Only for those that can thin out of the box- far out !!!!
