No. It is a narrated tour (bus ride) with a stop at the Portland Head Lighthouse. The driver was good about pointing out and explaining sights that you may want to see after the tour. The area is walkable and easy to get around.

It was worth the price. It was a nice day in the water. We saw most of the light houses in the area and a harbor seal sunning itself. The tour guide was good and the boat was comfortable.

I'm sorry I can't be very helpful answering your question. There were children that age on my cruise and they were having a great time, especially when they went to the wheelhouse and met the captain. You will have to look at their website or call the ticket office for ticket prices.

I want on the morning cruise and it was very cold and windy. Everyone wax wearing warm jackets and long pants . No blankets were offered. You may want to contact them directly but I doubt it will be a problem to bring s folded blanket but st least wear a jacket if you go on the cruise

The Portland City and Lighthouse Tour, our 105-minute trolley tour, can get occasionally get a little long for children of that age, as you spend almost the time on the trolley except for the 20-30 minute stop at the lighthouse towards the end of the tour. We do offer a 60-minute trolley tour of Portland, called our Peek at Portland, which starts on June 17th and goes through September 2nd. Most children really enjoy our Lighthouse Cruise. It's a 90-minute cruise, but you're able to move around the boat once underway and we go by lighthouses, Civil War forts, and look for harbor seals and seabirds. Hi Bruce, We have a snack bar on board the boats with drinks alcoholic beverages like beer, wine, mixed drinks and non-alcoholic like water, soda, coffee, tea. Snacks are of the vending machine variety, like chips, pretzels, nuts, candy. We are not currently set up to take credit cards so the bar is cash only. People are also welcome to bring food on board as well, but we ask that all beverages except for water are purchased on board. Thanks for inquiring!

Hi madcat920, The information others have provided here is spot-on. The only stop where you would get off the trolley is at Portland Head Light lighthouse. There are benches to sit on there, but as bob_cindy mentioned, they're not typically out of the sun, though there is the gift shop as well. We're not allowed to sit directly at the lighthouse drop-off for the full 20-30 minutes, so we have to drive around the corner, but your mother in law is welcome to not disembark the trolley and can hang out with the driver on board as well, if that's more comfortable for her. In any case, if you decide to take our tour, just let us know about your mother in law when you arrive and we can assist with any of the above options. Hope to see you this season!
