This was my third trip with Follow the Camino and the organization exceeded my expectations! The hotels & pensions were perfect (for me), the luggage transfer was flawless, and the route planning could use only minor adjustment (due to being off season and the ferry available very limited.) I really like this company - if you can't tell by my third time using them - recommend them highly, and will use them again for future Camino walks!

Travel Review 2024 – Follow The Camino
In September to mid-October I walked two hiking trails in France (plus one day in Switzerland). I have used Follow The Camino in 2023 walking the Le Puy Camino (GR65 from Le Puy to Saint Jeans Pied-de-Port), last year I rated this Average. Follow The Camino was the only Agency that I found for The Geneva Way (GR65 from Geneva to Le Puy). Company B was recommended by friends for the Robert Stevenson Track (GR70 from Le Puy to Saint Jean du Gard).
As both walks were done one after the other, I offer this Comparison:

Any Agency is not responsible for:
1. The Track you select. Both walks had fewer walkers, but it was my choice.
2. Weather – as it was autumn it was cold and wet at times.
3. Limited Accommodation – there were simply less accommodation options.
4. Distances – to a certain extent distances were determined by accommodation. However, I simply could not walk 35 km days.
The Agency is responsible for:
5. Itinerary – that’s what you pay them for.
6. Accommodation – type and availability.
7. Meals – provision or access.
8. Costs – Follow The Camino had so many changes, I’m unsure if I was refunded cancelled meals.
The main issue I have with using an Agency is that they base their initial Itinerary on their usual accommodation options. After you pay a deposit, they then book the accommodation. Then if they are closed, they find other (less suitable) accommodation which is more likely to be off-track). If I had seen the final Itinerary from Follow The Camino, I would have declined it. Try to get an undertaking that you can cancel if there are too many changes and get a refund. Research the Agency by looking a user sites/groups.

For years and years we've been walking pilgrim trails. firstly just husband and wife...then we met on the Portuguese in '15 another couple and they've become our walking buddies. Last year on the Via Francigena from Lausanne to Piacenza across the San Bernardo Pass our daughter joined us.
This year from Langres in France via Besancon to Lausanne we all walked together.
Yes November is cold but its invigorating and yes we had snow for 2 to 3 days but that's part of the adventure.
And Yes it was a flawless adventure with the team at Follw organising all the accommodation, baggage and route maps and books.
Looking forward to next years adventure...which will be our 12 walk on a pilgrims trail and the last 10 have been with Follow.

We booked this as a 50th birthday treat, as the Camino had been on my friends bucket list for some time.
Follow the Camino we’re the most responsive company we contacted, immediately responding with a personal email. They listened to our timescale requests and help us work out our accommodation, their initial hotel suggestions were more modern than we wanted so I asked them to help us find more rustic, Spanish places, which they did with no problem and some itinerary shuffling. Where places were less interesting to walk through they made bud suggestions so we had choices, and they organised our luggage transport throughout the trip which was seamless.
We had a non urgent query while on the trip which was responded to promptly by email.
Our accommodation was fabulous for our needs, our favourite places being a tiny guest house in Oia (Casa Puerto), an out of town family farmhouse in Caldas des Reis (Casa Loureiro) hosted by Maria who welcomed us like family, and our luxury treat Pazzo Lestrove outside Padron.
Signposts we’re easy enough to follow but we were sent walking notes too, we just had to find way to accommodation each night once we’d reached the towns.
All in all I’d overwhelmingly recommend ‘Follow the Camino’ for their trip help, and we’ve definitely got the bug and will be using them again!

I am SO VERY APPRECIATIVE of the service and arrangements provided by Follow the Camino! From our very first contact, throughout the adventure, they listened to what I wanted; scheduled everything according to plan; helped me have rest/vacation days in the best locations; set daily mileage ranges consistent with my desires; made private room with en suite bathroom reservations at wonderful places; and the overall support was simply amazing. I look forward to working with them on my next adventure!

When you walk the Camino with Sylvia, one of the guides for Follow the Camino, she makes you feel like there is no one she would rather be with. Her positive energy is infectious, she is knowledgeable and loves to share stories of the places you visit, and supports you as much as you need but also gives you space to explore your own journey. I had one of the best weeks ever in her company and Follow the Camino are an excellent choice for your walking adventure.

Our guide ,silvia ,from follow the Camino (with 57hours) made our trip happen in so many ways! She was AMAZING!🤩 I went solo on a Women only trip.
Silvia was there for everyone’s needs whether it be an injury or illness, handled it, moved on with the group, with a great attitude! We all became such close friends by the time we reached Cathedral it felt like family.
I can’t recommend this trip higher, for the experience of the Camino , for the price and if you’re fortunate enough to have silvia as your guide!

A series of unfortunate events. Miscommunication on the part of FTC Follow the Camino company. We started in Tui, Spain - on the border of Portugal and Spain. 2 Luggage were forgotten to be brought down from the 2nd floor- missed the transport service. We were following the instructions of the hotel front desk that he will bring down the luggage from the 2nd floor. But he did not and do the transport service left without 2 luggage.
Booking us at an apartment with no elevators. We are seniors in our 60s and we had no assistance to carry the luggage up two/three floors.
The ANNUAL town fiesta (which means the schedule has been determined a while ago) with ear-splitting music and throbbing bass continued till midnight. The rooms where we stayed were located in 2 apartment buildings one across the street and the other one was next to the stage where performers screamed into the microphones until
Midnight.
Accommodations are sub-standard and FTC’s response is that’s the best that they can do because that is what is available. We were given a box breakfast the night before. Not edible except for the apples. Not good enough because other groups stayed in acceptable places. We booked this in January 2024.
And miscommunications where we are staying in Pontevedra- service voucher vs FTC app.
Sewer smell in our bathroom

Instead of being in a contemplative and reflective mood, it was the opposite. I have contacted FTC and the response was disappointing because it was pat answer like what a big corporation would send to an unimportant consumer.
In future Will SERIOUSLY NOT consider FTC.

Good afternoon Jocelyn. We are disappointed to hear of your negative experiences on the Camino and appreciate you letting us know about the issues you faced. Please trust us when we say that our response to these problems are not 'pat' and we take this situation seriously.
As I understand it, my colleague has already explained our side to some of these issues. The miscommunication around collecting your luggage was unfortunate. However, this was out of our control as it was direct communication between you and the hotel. We have contacted the hotel in Tui about this to reduce the risk of it happening again.
It is a shame we couldn't find accommodation in O Porriño with an elevator. Unfortunately, with the festival on at this time of year accommodation options are limited even from very early in the year. We understand this lack of access to your room, alongside the celebrations which kept you awake, were disturbing. We hope to always provide the best options for our customers, and are sorry we couldn't secure anything more suitable for you on this occasion.
We offered a number of options to try make the situation better, including offering chocolates and wine for your room. We also covered the cost of one of your evening meals. It is sad to hear you feel these efforts were not enough to change the situation. We understand your frustration, and will endeavour to ensure these types of problems aren't repeated in the future!

Hi there! The majority of our clients will walk the Camino self-guided. They walk by themselves, or with friends and family. Out of our hundreds of clients each year, only about one in 10 join guided tours.
Please let us know if you are interested in joining one, or if we can prepare a self-guided itinerary for you.

Hi there,
The Camino Frances is the best marked of the trails, but there are occasionally areas where you will walk for a kilometre or three before seeing the next sign.
We provide detailed walking notes, maps, and information on the trails as well as water stations and food stops to our clients.

You can also fly into Paris and take a High Speed train to Biarritz, then train or private transfer to St Jean PP. Probably similar length than Iangg33 option.

Hello, is it safe for an unaccompanied female to walk the Camino de Santiago for a week or so? If so, anyone got any hints or tips for us? My wife is considering this walk towards the end of the year - is this a good time to go? Are there any 'packages' you could recommend? Or a list of "do's and dont's" ? Any information gratefully received, thank you!

Absolutely safe. We met a number of women on their own and they joined our group and others as we was walked. A very sociable trip where everyone looks out for one another.

Hi,
I am flying into Vigo to join the Camino there in April. Can anyone recommend accommodation that is easy to get to from the airport and is close to the Camino for starting out the next morning. My flight arrives late (8pm) and I'm travelling with a teenager so need to know what I'm doing in advance and don't want to be messing around with maps on the street in the dark.

Hello, I am considering booking with them. They have given me the list of Hotels, but have said those may not be available and then would be booked into lower grade hotels. What experience have you had with booking the hotels with them. Did you get the ones they orginally said or lower end hotels? thanks

I have booked with "follow the Camino" on my 2 walks, the choice of hotels will be based on availability, but they will try to give you the best they can find in the area. The Primitive route had awesome hotels coz we walked in autumn and a lot were still open. The English route we walked during winter in January, very few hotels are open, most were nice except for one with no heating.

Hi there, it sounds like you would really enjoy the Camino Portugues Coastal route. This route takes you along the rugged Atlantic coastline, before moving inland and joining the traditional Camino Portugues and arriving in Santiago de Compostela.
You have the option to just walk the final 100KM also, which would mean you would qualify for your certificate of completion (Compostela).
As for lodging, we can tailor your itinerary to suit any budget. We work with trusted accommodation suppliers along the routes, who provide a high standard of lodging, with breakfast and dinner included, if desired.
