Very disappointed again on our camping weekend. Last time we went to Mew Lake and lost power for over a day and this time we went to Cannibay Lake and lost power again !! They really need to keep ontop of that. It was freezing and without power our bower motor on our camper would y blow the furnace. Also the flush toilets wouldn’t work as well and by the morning they were disgusting. Our last camping trip was a horrible one. Won’t be back !!

We went for a day trip to Algonquin park, with 100% focus on hiking. We are fortunate in that it is only a 2hr drive from our cottage.
In a 6.5 hr span we hiked 6 trails, all 2.x km or under.
We went on October 23rd. Perfect to avoid crowds, there were other hikers, but no crowds at all and at that time of the year no bugs, just take into account temperature in the shade, as you are mostly hiking in forested areas.
Believe the park’s assessment of difficulty. Moderate means you need a reasonable fitness level and proper flat runners or hiking shoes. You’ll be navigating around a lot of rocks, roots and uneven and wet ground on the trails. There will be stairs and/or inclines/declines involved multiple times along the trail.
If you have balance issues walking poles might be helpful. There are steep cliffs on some trails and staying on the trail is necessary, there isn’t room to run freely, so keep that in mind with young children.
The length of time the park alots to complete a trail must assume you carefully read the guides for each trail and stop and carefully observe everything. We ( 2 people in our early 60’s) did most trails in 2/3 or less the time stated.
The Spruce Bog trail was very easy with lovely boardwalks, great for most mobility and not too long.
Grab the guides at the trailheads, they are well worth it($0.50) bring change.

Times have changed. The park is overrun with campers who have zero respect for the environment and care only about partying. Staff (Wardens) ignore glaring violations and are few and far between when needed. Washroom facilities were dirty and often out of order at many locations. Many campsite were left strewn with garbage and relied on the next user to clean up the mess. Staff at one gate house simply shrugged their shoulders and said if we chose not to return someone else would take the site anyway. The standards seem to really fallen. Dirty sites. Minimal maintenance. Out of order washrooms. Broken picnic tables. Partially working hydro boxes on a site we paid for hydro on.
All in all not the park it once was.

Ich führ den Highway 60 entlang und lief einige Trails. Der beste Trail mit dem schönsten Ausblick war der Lookout Trail bei km40.

Much harder than expected. Took us 4.5 hours. The terrain is mostly tree roots. Lots of different elevations. It was very muddy that day which made it harder and longer. Gorgeous water features and the lookout at peak fall leaf season was OUTSTANDING. The final trek to the top was hard! No regrets but definitely hard.

This park is fantastic for boating and hiking. Canoe lake is nice and calm for kids to enjoy. Lake of Two rivers can get busy. I recommend this place. I was lucky find a spot thanks to availablecamping.com

It had a lot of Chipmunks in various trails!
They were awesome, we could take a bunch of photos.

Come on, who doesn't like Algonquin Park - will always be one of my favorites. Lots of different level hikes for groups with mixed age groups/limitations. My fave is the Misty trail.
