the weather was -22 when we hiked it and it took us 45 minutes to walk around the main "lake". was a nice hike in winter, i'm sure it would be even nicer in summer

A wonderful way to spend a couple of hours walking along the Boardwalk with my 2 grandchildren.
I would highly recommend this to anyone with young children, as they get to enjoy nature in all its splendor.

Great little nature walk - when we went (September 2022) much of the walkway was either under water, or in need of repair and closed.

Half the walk was closed - under water. Only two ducks and no beavers . 😞 very tranquil and pretty marsh. In a residential area.

This is a beautiful place. The board walk is built on a lake and features beaver dams. Its not uncommon to see beavers there too. We saw one during our 30 mins of stay
The boardwalk is not difficult to walk on and anyone will be able to do it. If someone has mobility issues, then they may need some help in some parts.

This was our final stop as we finished our vacation in the Canadian Rockies, and it was well worth our time. As we walked around the boardwalk, we admired the geese and wildflowers. We did not see beavers, but we believe they were there because the lodge and dam were in good condition. If our grandchildren had been with us, they would have enjoyed it, too.

Surprising wetland located in an urban residential neighborhood in Hinton. Pleasantly mosquito-free due to a plethora of large, hungry dragonflies. Lots of birder photo-ops.

A nice walk along this boardwalk made in a picturesque environment will allow you yo see beavers if you come shortly before sunset. We saw one having dinner (see the attached photo).

I have been to this boardwalk a few times over the past 3 years. The boardwalk itself has slowly been deteriorating, but instead of repairing it, the town seems to be content to simply close off the various affected sections.
Even though a number of areas were boarded off and the elevated platform no longer stands, it is still a very nice and enjoyable walk. There are a number of trails that connect all around this boardwalk, so you can explore as much or little as you want.
The main "advertised" entrance to the boardwalk system is not easily accessible for people with limited mobility. However, the trail system surrounding it weaves it's way by various residential areas that have a 'flat entrance' to the trails (as opposed to the small hill at the main entrance).
There is both shady, forested areas for when the sun is out and temperatures are hot and the open main boardwalk area. And yes, actual beavers can potentially be seen here if you are lucky.
This is a nice relaxing escape for anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours.

Is this boardwalk maintained during the winter?
In the description it says this is in Hinton. On the map it shows it in Edson. Can anyone confirm where it is?

It is in Hinton. The location is behind the houses and the big sign of the Beaver Boardwalk is in the front of the appartement on 418 Collinge Road. But the entrance of the site is on Sutherland ave. You can park your car near the entrance

Hello, we are stopping in hinton around 7/8am at the end of June and would love to catch this treat of a trail. Can you let me know how long the trail is? How much time would it take to see some of the really beautiful areas? We would have about an hour available to us.

You would definitely have enough time in an hour to see a good portion of the beaver board walk and hang out to see if the beaver are busy. 7 or 8 in the morning would be a lovely time to spend time here as probably not too busy. There is approx 3 km of board walk but many trails lead off of the board walk if you want to see some of those trails too. We have a really good trail system in town! Hope you get to stop and enjoy.

Hi, We are coming to Hinton tomorrow ( Sunday 28th June '15) and really keen to see the Beaver boardwalk area.
Your fame has travelled, we are Australians and have the surname "Beaver, so especially relevant for us.
May I please ask what time of the day are you most likely to actually see the Beavers ?
We are cycling from Edson, so hope to be there about 1pm, then leaving the next morning ( early) to cycle to Jasper.
We shall try and time our visit to the Beaver Boardwalk to suit the Beavers (the animals that is !) With many thanks Ross Beaver.
