To me this area was part of everything else that surrounded the harbour area. We walked it all. Lots of history here and plaques to read. The buildings historic. It is a place you cant miss if your walking the whole of the inner harbour Victoria area.

It’s definitely a charming city however to get there is too long. What I enjoyed the most was the beautiful landscapes in the ferry from Tswawassen to Schwartz Bay.

Immer einen Abstecher wert! Klasse die Promenade entlang zu laufen und den Blick auf Parlamentsgebäude zu haben. Auch die Hafenanlagen mit den Taxibooten und vielen Ausflugsmöglichkeiten ist sehenswert.

A pretty town with lots to do but its ruind by the number of homeless people who are allowed to camp on the streets and in the parks.
Talking to locals it seams that they are shipped from other cities to Victoria because of the mild winters there. There are loads of begging and fouling public spaces.
Shame!

The Old town which is close to the harbour has many old buildings, they are still well maintained.
Full of history & many interesting tales, the old buildings,blends well with the modern buildings too.
It is really very great that old buildings are still preserved.
Full of restaurants & shops.

The old town of Victoria is right on the harbour and full of old buildings.
Many great views of the harbour and close to downtown, shops, restaurants and entertainment.

The ‘old town’ IS downtown (esp. Inner harbour) area. The city is very strict n maintaining the integrity of the old town.. when possible m, the outer exterior is kelp in place when buildings are upgraded or rebuilt.

The geographical boundaries are kind of iff-y but it is generally accepted that below Chinatown lies the heart of "Olde Town" and the majority of the history extends down to Bastion Square and Trounce Alley on View Street. Early Victoria was a part of the colonies of Great Britain until 1871 and many of these building locations predate the time when Canada gained control over Victoria.
Day trippers roam the streets, reading the historical plaques, while enjoying the grand old buildings' restaurants and shops. If time is limited (and it generally is for tourists taking the BC Ferry over from Vancouver), the lion's share of time will probably be spent here.

I recently acted as a tour guide for friends visiting from Ontario. We had a great wander around Victoria's Inner Harbour then moved east into the old part of the city, We read the plaque by the old Custom House (hard to miss with its pink colour), right beside it is the tiniest park with another plaque indicating the site of the original Fort Victoria. There's more to be seen along Wharf St. There are walking tours available so that you won't miss any of the history found in this Capital city.

Lovely Old Town by the harbor. Nice to walk on the streets with all kind of boutiques, and lots of Irish clothing and items, including of course lots of pubs. Nice pubs in fact with good food and drinks. Some tourists attractions too inclinding boat rides, weather permitting of course.
