Great travel agent. My trip was amazing from beginning to the end. Filipa is extremely Knowledgable, friendly and met my every wish and at the same time stayed in my price range. Can’t recommend small hotels enough!!!

I did one week of hiking (self-guided) in the Alentejo and it was just great. Everything went super smoothly, in the hotels (which were grand, too) and with the transfers of the luggage (and myself).

Incredible experience in sao Miguel with we love small hotels! Filipa set up every single detail! We had a perfect custom experience and can’t wait to use this team again for a future trip! Meals, activities, hotels, transportation to everything all pre-arranged. What a wonderful experience!

We have booked a 2 week tour to Costa Vicentina and Algarve. The communication with Filipa was excellent, the tour tailor made to our wishes and the suggested hotels were amazing and could not have been better. We also had some additional experiences like wine tasting, visit of olive farm and sea salt production. If you like to travel individually and prefer nice places to stay with special occasions to experience Portugal you should book via welovesmallhotels. We cannot wait to return to Portugal and will book via them again. Muito obrigado e até já:-)

My friend and I worked with Filipa at "welovesmallhotels.com" to organize a cycling trip in the Alentejo region of Portugal. The company coordinated with Portugal Nature Trails for the bike rentals and routing to our overnight venues. Although the weather wasn't always cooperative, we thoroughly enjoyed the lovely stays at the various selected small hotels. Our hosts at the Monte Pomar, in Redondo, were delightful, especially after an all day cycle in the rain! The property was lovely, and even more so when the rain ended! Our stay in Monsaraz at the Horta Da Coutada was equally as delightful. It accommodated more guests, but the rooms were spotless and comfortable, as were the pool and estate. The small restaurant had a delicious breakfast and would prepare dinners on request (so we took advantage of that as well, after riding 30-40 miles in the warm conditions). In Evora, we stayed at the Casa do Governador, another beautiful spot just north of the historic city. Like the other properties, it had a pool (two, actually), vineyards and delicious breakfast and dinners (again, the evening meal was prepared fresh on request). The rooms were clean and quiet. Our final stay was at the Quinta das Lavandas near Castelo de Vide. All of the hotels were wonderful, but the lavender farm has to be my favorite. Our hosts, Stefan and Teresa were so hospitable. Their small hotel is eco-friendly and spotless. That they produce their own lavender products and olive oil is a plus! The breakfast was fresh and delicious. They do not offer dinner, but did provide recommendations in Castelo de Vide, and got us a reservation when most of the restaurants were closed during our stay. A visit to this part of the Alentejo is a must, especially the stay at the Quinta!
As we were cycling between towns, we asked Filipa to arrange for our small luggage to be transported between hotels. At each stop, our suitcases (and growing cache of souvenirs) were there at the pequeno hotel to greet us. Her efforts on our behalf were greatly appreciated at the end of our biking day!
During the planning phase, Filipa had to make a few significant changes to our itinerary, and was very gracious in doing so. She was great about keeping us informed. To be sure, we both will be making another trip to Portugal, and will work with Filipa to coordinate our next visit.

Laura helped us plan a perfect week-long trip from Lisbon to Porto for our group of 7 friends. The hotels were stunning and special - we all felt so spoiled! Laura was so great to work with, made excellent recommendations, and had endless patience for our ever-changing needs. I HIGHLY recommend the "gastronomic experience" in the schist village. I recommend We Love Small Hotels to everyone I meet planning a trip to Portugal, and look forward to working with them again when I next travel to Portugal with my family.

We worked with Laura to plan 9 days in Coimbra, Douro Valley, and Porto. Laura recommended hotel options, activities, and coordinated a great itinerary. Very good communication throughout the process, and great choices for hotels and activity vendors/providers. Loved the custom booklet she prepared for us as well!

My daughter and I did this trip in June 2019. For us it turned out to be a 10 out of 10: the whole journey was extremely well designed with an eye for detail. Our individual wishes (e.g. vegetarian meals) were always accommodated for. You get to know the schist villages, their heritage and the locals in a very intimate way by living in 3 very different villages with different accomodations. All were lovely and chosen to give you an impression of the variety of schist village culture and tradition. The walking tours took us deep into breathtaking nature, securely guided by a (very functional and intuitive) GPS that we received in the first location. The tours are not super easy but definitely manageable with an average fitness level and for the longer days, there is always an option to take a shortcut if preferred. Laura from „We love small hotels" was there to help us with anything at any time before and during the trip. We strongly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a holiday that is relaxing and active at the same time and that takes you away from the tourist crowds - we barely came across any other people during our hikes. The project of opening up the schist villages to the public but at the same time maintaining their unique charm has really been successful in our opinion! The last day in Coimbra is another highlight: the Sapientia Hotel seems the best place to stay in the whole city and is just a stone‘s throw away from the University with its world heritage library. All in all, we will certainly come back to book another adventure with this outstanding agency.

We spent two glorious weeks in Portugal - Porto, Douro Valley, Hiking the Schist Villages, Coimbra and Lisbon. I was looking at Spain, France and Portugal when I discovered We Love Small Hotels. Their website had great itineraries and I contacted them to see if a custom trip could be designed. Laura was so helpful, suggesting the highlights, adjusting when I wanted to not be changing hotels too often, changing the hiking to fit our needs. We loved the mix of cities, country, wine and culture. We did a food tour in Lisbon, goat cheese making in the Schist Villages, hiking, Sintra. The hotels were all special. We loved learning from the owners about their vision for each one. Laura arranged drivers, who were prompt, informative and a pleasure to be with. She checked in with us throughout the trip to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. With a 6 hour time difference, I appreciated that she promptly responded to our many emails. I would recommend them to anyone. We felt like we always had the best room wherever we were, so it was well worth the money. We love Portugal and we loved WeLove Small Hotels

We were interested in exploring the coast and inland areas in Alentejo. Laura at We Love Small Hotels arranged a self-guided trip with 4 nights inland Alantejo (3 days of cycling); 4 nights coastal Alentejo (3 days hiking); 4 nights in Lisbon (including day trip to Sintra), including all transfers. The hotels were all excellent, the transfers were smooth. They are a small responsive agency with good local knowledge and contacts.
