I cannot confirm that it is a scam or verify the bad reviews. We took the 22:00 bus from Tirana to Saranda and it worked perfectly fine. No luxus but for 1800 Lek per person a fair price. Important to know: Be there at least 30min prior to start, buy tickets in the ticket office at the station, the location is "South and North Albania Bus Terminal (Bus Station)

TL:DR: Horrible experience, avoid if possible or otherwise plan for MAJOR DELAYS.
We took the bus with Tisa Travel from Tirana to Saranda August 2024.
The original bus was full, but we were sent to a replacement bus which appeared to be from the 90s. No air condition, no seatbelts, panels falling off and full of thrash. The bus struggled to keep more than 20 to 30 km/h up most hills.
The trip started off 15 min delayed, but halfway a full 30 minute break was still taken (although most of the passenger were waiting for the bus to leave again). Shortly after the driver decided to take an extra 10-15 minute smoking/water break, increasing the overall delay unnecessarily.
In total the trip being 1 hour and 20 minutes delayed on a trip which is supposed to take 4 hours and 30 minutes.
Would not recommend, but as alternative methods of public travel is sorely missing for this distance at least plan plenty of extra time. Expect major delays and being generally uncomfortable through the trip.

Worst customer service ever. Unprofessional and ignorant. they do not pick up when you try to call them. It takes forever to get answered on WhatsApp and customer service is doing nothing other than being rude and ignorant. If it feels like a scam it probably is.

Please make sure that you communicate with the Bus Driver properly about your transfer to Saranda/Ksamil from the airport. They do not speak english which makes it very difficult. We booked a trip from airport to Saranda with Gjirafa Travel. The buses have very weird timings, so in case you are travelling in the afternoon, and you miss the bus at 4PM, you will have to wait until 10 PM. The bus company that takes you is Tisa Travel. Now we were unfortunate enough to miss our bus to Saranda as the driver took us from Airport to Tirana Center and the bus to Saranda leaves from a completely different location. We tried asking to the driver, but since he spoke no english nor did he put an effort to look into the ticket. When we reached the Saranda bus terminal in Tirana, the bus had already left, and the next bus scheduled was at 10PM. The taxi driver sitting there spoke some english and said he would take 150 EUR to take us to Saranda. Now we were desperate and since it was a short trip, we negotiated for 130 EUR. Now, this driver ( and potentially others involved), will speak to you about their sad stories and all kinds of things - DO NOT BUY THAT. He constantly spoke to the driver of the bus and kept speaking in Albanian. Half way through the ride, he says I am going to drop you near the bus now. Upon asking, he said he would take 80 EUR more for us to go to Saranda. Now, we were too tired to go to lengths, but we realised that they had done the same thing to other people on the bus. I have travelled enough and gone through some scams in my life, but the way I was manipulated by this driver in particular was beyond imagination. The people at Gjirafa were nice enough to give us a return ticket from Saranda to Tirana for free. If you are taking this route, make sure you communicate & in case you miss the bus, just call Gjirafa and they should sort something out for you. Also, the bus driver is a superbly rude man, constantly smokes inside the bus - not ideal at all. I hope there are other services soon in place, because this was a horrendous experience.

Attenzione!! Buying tickets from this company online, in addition to paying more, does not mean having safe seats. You must always show up half an hour before at the bus stop agency and if there are free seats they give you a piece of paper, handwritten, which equals the ticket. I repeat, always if you arrive on time and if there are free places otherwise you will stay on foot. Also pay attention to the information, example, from Saranda to Tirana Terminal are 5 hours and not 4 as it is written in the ticket. Then if you have to go to the airport, you risk missing your plane. Personally I happened to arrive late at the terminal with the first bus and have to take a taxi because there was no second

Don’t reserve nothing at all with this company. More EXPENSIVE, no one will help you, and doesn’t respect the timetable.
An example, if you see arriving time maybe would be 1 hour and a half later. And when you ask for a refund they will answer: take a bus earlier.
Also, before you buying the bus tickets in the WhatsApp of their website they don’t answer any questions and give you any help.
The worst in Albania.
REMEMBER buying the tickets in TERMINALI (Tirana) from the city center you can arrive there with urban Bus 5B
An example, if you see arriving time maybe would be 1 hour and a half later. And when you ask for a refund they will answer: take a bus earlier.

I was travelling solo from Tirana to Saranda and had a pleasant experience. I felt comforfable and got prompt responses whenever I had a query. The scenes were beautiful and most importantly, there was an AC!! Great service, especially when considering the low price.

Arrived by plane and stayed overnight in Tirana. Took a bus to Saranda, a comfortable journey lasting over 4 hours with a lunchtime stop in a self-service restaurant along the way.

In common with most buses in Albania,ours was almost falling apart. We sat on torn seats with broken armrests in a filthy, decrepit and baking hot enclosure rattling along at an average of 20 miles an hour with no aircon and crackling music wailing from the drivers radio. Frequent stops for parcels and passengers. Windows grey with road dirt, flimsy, translucent curtains hanging in tatters from broken runners giving no shade from the glaring sun. At first the views over the mountains and down to the coast distracted but after two hours they lost their charm and the whole trip was a test of endurance. A five hour journey. But it was cheap.

Felt very unsafe. Reckless driving, smoking while driving, eventually even got angry with us when we and another two people wanted to get out because we were driving past the hotel we were staying. Our contact said this was an option because they did it before. Maybe it’s a normal thing the way they drive but this was not okay. I’m used to traffic in indonesia but this man didnt respect the fact he was driving with 20+ people behind him.
