Shaka Guide for Life!

Loved our adventures using Shaka Guide! Even though I'm a planner, we never would have seen as much researching the driving tours on our own as we did with Shaka.

We purchased the bundle and did 3 of the drives - North Shore, Waimea & Napali and Poipu & Koloa. I love that the guide is upbeat and fun! He gives you the info on the spot before you arrive so you can decide if it's something you want to stop for. There's also sections to find food and other things.

You can download this ahead of time so even if you do not have signal or it's weak it will work off of your GPS. We also used Shaka for Maui and it was great.

I can't imagine going to Hawaii without these guides!

Your Own Private Tour Guide

What a deal! Shaka Guide is the perfect way to tour the islands, especially if you love learning about the places and things you're seeing without being crammed on a bus full of other of other people and on someone else's timeline. Shaka Guide is literally having your own private tour guide!

I purchased the 4-pack for Kauai, and having Uncle Shaka along for our adventures made our excursions and experience easy and fun. I appreciate that I didn't have to research and map out destinations, then pay attention to those while driving. The itineraries are well-planned and directions are easy to follow and modify if you want to skip something or just do part of the tour. As the driver, I was able to relax, listen to stories, focus on driving, and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

We enjoyed learning Hawaiian history and mythology as Uncle Shaka talked story along the way, and he has the uncanny ability to know when you might be hungry or need to use the restroom... so thoughtful, bruh. And the dad jokes had us all in stitches. I will never think of coconuts the same way again!

Like other reviews have mentioned, I wish there'd been music playing anytime the guide wasn't guiding. The intervals of silence were weird.
Overall, though, the app is really easy to use and has many features. A tour of the app would be helpful. I stumbled upon the detailed itinerary with time estimates, which was useful, but I wasn't easily able to find it again.
I also had a little trouble with the Wailua Valley & Waterfalls Tour and its multiple starting points. Once I selected a starting point, I couldn't figure out how to change it or start the tour over again; there only seems to be an option to resume a tour.

I will definitely be using Shaka Guide when I visit other islands in Hawai'i.

Informed at our pace
This was my first time doing a audio tour and I loved it! We were able to travel at our own pace and still get to see so many things we would have missed just driving around on our own. It was very informative and our guide was fun.

Tour at your pace

Excellent way to see Kauai. Up to date, knowledgable guide and we really enjoyed the insights given and know before you go aspects of the app. Few minor glitches here and there but nothing of any consequence. Allows you to start at point of interest #1 or wherever you are at the time and want to pick up from there. I would definitely use this app and guide while traveling in destinations where renting a car. Excellent purchase and guide app.

A must have to experience everything on Kauai
The Shaka app took us on days of guided adventures. It works on GPS so it will pick up the tour once you are on one of its routes. The guide tells animated, rich in history and culture stories along the drive. You can chose to stay as long as you want at the stops or bypass them. I highly recommend the app. We got to see all of Kauai and learn a lot about its history and traditions!

Kauai Bundle

We used the Kauai Bundle & the Oahu Bundle of Shaka Guide. Both were terrific! We never got lost while using it either. It worked great with my phone, easy to understand, interesting stories of the islands & locations, fun humor, and took us to several very cool places off the beaten path that ended up being some of our favorites. Highly recommend. Each tour also has Tour Stops & Maps & Highlights & Tips. You can pause, resume, close, or join a tour at any point along it. It was also useful as a GPS tracker even while the tour was paused.

We did all 4 Kauai tours plus returned to some of our favorite new spots the last day.

Great option
This was a great option to see Kauai at our own pace. We scheduled an activity every day and did a tour of an area each day. The only problem we had was syncing to our map app to get to the starting points. We just ended using two phones for that.

Shaka is the way to tour!!

Absolutely loved the off the beaten path stops, the stories and the music. It took all the stress and strain off planning and plotting our drives. We did all 4 Kauai tours. We had to cut two of them short because one day we spent lots of time at one of those hidden gem beaches. Another day we took quite a few of the hikes and the day was gone before we knew it! I would definitely recommend to any 1st time island tourists!

Shaka Guide is the BEST!

My husband and I did 2 1/2 of these tours last week and loved them! So much better than driving around looking at things, not knowing what they are. We learned so much about Kauai, and saw some amazing sights. Can't wait to go back and finish the last 2 tours.

This was my first experience using an app as a tour guide, but I'm so glad I chose Shaka. It was great being able to go where we wanted, when we wanted, with accurate directions and little to no cost. Shaka guide took us to places that we would not have normally visited or known about. Also we loved the general history and folklore the app provided us about Hawaii and the locations we visited. My relative that lives on Kauai was even surprised at the amount of touring we were able to do on our own while we were there. Since my return home I have told anyone that will listen about this fabulous app.
