Challenging but oh so beautiful.
A memorable hike with scenic lookouts followed by a soothing hot spring dip.
Pedro took good care of us.

We took the tour with Pedro on a very hot day, so that might influence my review ;) we had a great time but some things we didn’t know from the description or reviews, so here it goes for a better understanding of the tour 😊 apparently, Pedro changes it up a bit in different seasons etc.
First up, Pedro is one of the most attentive tour guides out there and really loves the area, the national park and the people there. It was great having him as a guide!
The transfer is 2h of driving time each way with two stops each way (one scenic, and one the cafe/refueling). Our group was quite chill and had no appointments (which Pedro asked about beforehand) and so somehow the tour ended up being way longer, and we got back at 10.30pm, with Pedro dropping people off close to their lodgings.
The first half of the tour is very basic hiking with not much elevation and a nice view, before you get to the waterfalls and pools where you can take a break and swim (that’s about 2h of walking with pauses for interesting info about the area). The water is pretty cold, which was great on the hot day!
After that, Pedro asks the group if they want to go back the same way or continue on and loop around another mountain. (I think he said, the group could also split up with people going back the easy way on their own). If you choose the loop, is where the going gets tough, there are multiple pretty steep parts with a big incline at the end. It’s no joke if you’re not fit. But the most annoying part was the thorns that people have mentioned before, it’s different kinds but one that comes up often for example is blackberry bushes, so it does scratch you up good/will rip less sturdy clothing. There is another lagoon/pool situation on that route and the vistas are a bit different, so my friends and I are divided on if that makes the second half worth it. The second half was around 2.5h of hiking, plus the second break.
Sadly, we didn’t see any of the animals that could’ve been there but that’s nature! The fauna is pretty interesting with a lot of rock formations and ferns with a lot of cute little flowers. You get pretty scenic views as you’re high up from the beginning.
So, all in all:
- expect an actual hike if you do the big loop.
- wear long, sturdy pants bc of the thorns
- definitely wear at least sneakers with some grip
- bring a water bottle - there are a few spots to refill them with mountain spring water, which is awesome!
- And pack enough snacks and food for a really long day

Pedro cancelled the departure a day early, leaving us with no opportunity to access other alternatives. Besides, I didn't get refunded.

The Peneda-Geres National Park is a truly hidden gem, without a formal entrance and ranger station like in the US, hence going with a guide was necessary. We enjoyed the scenery, flora, and local history, we enjoyed hiking to the water fall and walking around in the villages. Our guide Pedro was great. He was very considerate and speaks very good English. We were so glad that we were able to spend a quiet day in the nature in Portugal. This was an impressive day trip.

Pedro guided us on a beautiful route to a waterfall with its small lagoon. The route had sections both on marked dirt roads and on narrower rock paths. We would not have seen the corners and views that we enjoyed if it had not been for Pedro's experience. He also knows the people who live in Geres and their ways of life well, so we learned a lot. Pedro picked us up and dropped us off in Braga, although the tour starts in Porto, which was great for us.

Pedro was an amazing tour guide who curated an amazing experience. We had a small group (4) and he chose a hike that worked perfectly for everyone's fitness level. We did a 7 mile hike (though could have done more or less based on your choice) up to a waterfall. Pedro knows the Park inside and out and provided an experience only a local could!
1000/10, must do experience while in Porto!

Pedro organised such a enjoyable daytrip, might be the highlight of our holiday!
The hike was through such a magical area with many beautiful spots, the (not heavy) rain and clouds even added to this! The hike was a good workout with enough breaks for water/food/bathroom (in the bushes😉) and every now and then, Pedro explained e.g. some of the historical background of the area.
After the long hike, the relaxing swim in the hotsprings in a beautiful scenery was very welcome and the last stop at an old castle gave more pretty views.
Even the cartrip from Porto and back was enjoyable with lowkey chatting and a good musicplaylist! Plenty of stops along the way for food & bathroom.
The group being small made it easy to chat & connect with everyone while still being able to relax and enjoy the quietness of the area.
Again, thank you so much Pedro!

An incredible day at this stunning national park. Our guide Pedro was exceptional - he communicated clearly how to meet for the pick up, offered to stop for sandwiches/drinks to take to the park, and was informative about the area and the hike. We are a couple in our late 60's and the hike was strenuous but the water and picnic break in the middle made it really enjoyable. The scenery is stunning. We enjoyed Pedro - he was friendly, informative, and helpful as we hiked. With the travel to and from Porto and the hiking it is a long day and will be a great memory of Portugal.
Thanks Pedro!

Wonderful day!
Pedro was really reactive and write to me soon after the booking. The day was just more then perfect! We were a small group of 4 and Pedro choose a wonderful hike just hard/easy enough for the group (around 10km total for us but there were different options). We were mostly our little group alone on the trail with nature, views and mountains around just for us. Pedro knows the place and he is always caring for the group in some more tricky part. He brings us to two different place to swing that I’d probably didn’t choose if i were there by ourselves and it was the perfect spot! Also, he is always there to give a hand if there’s a bigger rock to climb.
So, let’s say that day really was remarkable! Book with Pedro without doubt if you feel to have a day out of track and full of nature!
